"Situation Room" shows President Barack Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the President's national security team on May 1, 2011 as they are shown images of the assassination of Osama bin Laden. The image is hailed as an iconic photograph and it is remarkable in how it functions as a "stand in" for pictures showing the actual killing of bin Laden. During and after the US operation, much effort has been put into preventing the public release of such visual material. The pose of Hillary Clinton in "Situation Room" has also generated discussion over whether she was the only one emotionally affected, thus raising wider questions about gendered responses to images.
