Photographs by Johan Spanner
These photos taken by Johan Spanner are from the recent conflict in Niger. With little attention, a Tuareg rebellion rose in northern Niger in 2007. Representing the classic split in Africa between farmers and nomads, this conflict was – and is – mainly about the resources in the ground, and the rights to the land, and as such the images become representative for many conflicts on the continent of Africa.
