Painting by Pedro Lujan, "Galapagos", acrylic and gold leaf on canvas
Threats to the environment have become a prominent non-military security issue on the global agenda. Politicians fight over who is responsible for climate change and which policies to adopt to respond to them. Images play a crucial role in presenting climate change to the public. To us Pedro Lujan's painting "Galapagos" provides an artistic rendering of an ocean, which could be facing significant transformations due to for instance rising sea temperatures and acidification, unless international policies are adopted.
