Cartoon by Christoffer Zieler
In 2010, Lene Hansen invited cartoonist Christoffer Zieler to draw a strip for an academic article on the ethics of showing contested imagery using the Danish Muhammad cartoon crisis as a case study. Christoffer had already made several drawings depicting the crisis, and Lene was looking to find a way to visually represent the crisis without reprinting the controversial cartoons. During the process of writing the article, the cartoon crisis was replaced by the image of the hooded prisoner from Abu Ghraib, and Christoffer's drawings are thus shown here for the first time.
